Waukesha Christmas Parade

As I am writing this, I am watching the Christmas Parade from Waukesha, Wisconsin on their local NBC affiliate WTMJ4. Just over one year ago, on November 21, 2021, their community was visited by an evil that killed six and threatened to kill hundreds more. Hundreds of people experience physical and emotional injuries that will take the rest of their lives to overcome.

After nearly a year of waiting a small part of justice has been served with the conviction & sentencing of Darrell Brooks. After watching the trial online, I realize I have never experienced such a self-centered person who has absolutely no regard for other human beings. My appreciation to the judge and DA’s office for having to deal with Mr. Brooks. It is appropriate that he was sentenced to 6 consecutive life sentences without the possibility of extended release. No sentencing will feel enough or fully repair the damage that was done.

This parade is a folksy small town style parade but you could feel the sense of community as the performers walked by. It is nice to see that there are large crowds viewing the parade this year. The people of Waukesha are showing that the tragedy of last year will not break their spirit. The citizens of Waukesha and people from all around the world watching this parade online are in defiance of one despicable person who only thinks of himself and is a danger to anyone he comes across.
