• Christmas Party 2022

Today I went to the clinic’s Christmas party. It was held at the Mandarin in Vaughn, the neighborhood of my old work. It was nice to see some of the places I haven’t seen in over 3 years. Ekaterina provided me with a ride to the restaurant to save me the hassle of taking the bus. On the way there she accidently took the wrong ramp to Black Creek Drive and started heading south. A quick u-turn at Lawrence Ave. soon got us heading in the right direction. The little detour only delayed us a couple of minutes and we arrive right at noon. Entering the restaurant we found out…

  • The Journey Continues

Since Thursday evening’s emotional phone call and abruptly quitting my job, I have been seriously stressed out and I haven’t been sleeping well.  I only got a couple hours sleep on Thursday and didn’t sleep at all Friday night causing me to watch the sunrise on Saturday.  It is major step and it has been weighing heavy on me.  I have been experiencing a flood of emotions that include anger, sorrow, fear and self doubt that have been washing over me, sometimes all at the same time.  Today I have a new determination and have a better outlook for the future. The last couple days I have spent updating my resume,…

  • Change Of Career

Out of respect to the people involved I will be referring to them as employer and supervisor. Yesterday I informed my employer that I will no longer be working for Conixi.  Even though he treated me with respect and dignity it was the actions of my direct supervisor that finally made up my mind.  Even though I have been working with my supervisor for the past 16 years in different companies, I couldn’t endure his treatment of me anymore. It all came to a head yesterday when he called me after work and berated me over the phone.  His actions yesterday have made me come to this decision.  Several times…

  • A trip into the past.

Today I rode my motorcycle to Cardiff, a small town where I lived in the mid 80’s. With no rain in the forecast for Saturday or Sunday it was the perfect time to go. I was planning this trip for a couple weeks but the weather never cooperated. In the morning I woke up early for a Saturday, gave my motorcycle a wash and topped up the coolant fluid. Grabbing what I would need for an overnight stay I proceeded to Walmart to pick up some small items and to the my mechanic to take a look at the motorcycle’s parking break. At Walmart instead of buying the items individually…

  • Weekend Update

Friday after work talked with my neighbour Diane.  She says that here car has been broken into and she suspects our former neighbour.   After she described several incidents she had with him over the years I told her to contact the police if there are more incidents. Saturday was a quiet day.  I went to Corsa and got my motorcycle seat fixed.  Apparently the bolt from the hinge came out.  Luckily, George was able to find the bolt and reinstall it. Sunday went for small ride, from Jane down to Bloor across to the DVP, up to Lawrence and then back home. Today I took the portable safe, with family…

  • Motorcycle is out of storage.

Today after work I retrieved my motorcycle from winter storage.  I am looking forward to the freedom and accessibility that the motorcycle provides me.  It feels like a long time taking the TTC and being subject to their schedules. The forecast for tomorrow is for rain.  If it is raining in the morning, I will be taking the bus. It wasn’t raining bad so I rode to work.

  • Last day going to work by motorcycle.

Today I woke up and took a look at the weather.  It was cold outside with snow on the ground and only a 20% possibility of precipitation.   This made me change yesterday’s decision and to go to work by motorcycle.  The roads were clear but it was a very cold ride.  Looking at tomorrows forecast I have decided that I will be taking public transit even if it is clear and sunny in the morning.

  • Winter Begins

The weather forecast for tomorrow is below zero temperatures and scattered snow.  It looks like it is time to put away my motorcycle for the winter.  With snow and ice covering the roads I consider it too unsafe to be riding it.  I guess it is back to public transit until spring.

  • Bedroom Cleanup

Yesterday I reclaimed my bedroom.  Tore down the old bed frame, cleaned up and installed the new frame and mattress.  Once I finally got off my ass and started the work the job went very quickly. The new frame from Zinus was sturdy, light weight and easy to put together (no tools required).  It should be easy to pack for if/when I move.  The bed frame is 14″ tall and also works as a box spring mattress.  You place your mattress right on top of it. After the frame came the mattress.  The mattress was boxed and looked like a long sleeping bag when out of the box.  As per…

  • Post Holiday Season Catch Up

Once again holiday season is over.  That time of year when you are bombarded with repetitious Christmas music and jostled around in the hustle and bustle at the shopping centers is finished. Here in Toronto we had a very cold holiday season.  Frigid cold weather was a constant over the holidays and has finally let up a couple of days ago.  Yesterday and today has been milder but with the warm weather has come rain.  The rain has washed most of the snow away and the only snow that can be seen is where it has been piled up. The new subway extension has completely changed my commuting schedule.  After…
